Diablo II (PC)

"One of my favorite games of all time. I played it solo mostly or on a direct connection with a friend. Dynamics is what it's all about. Tons of variation in skills, items, and enemies."

Screen Names: Oske (barbarian), Fesk (necromancer)... I loved all the classes, except maybe the assassin (combos aren't my style)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (X360)

"A must-have for any western RPG fan and 360 owner. A huge open world with dynamic terrain. The best bow-and-arrow gameplay I've encountered, and a fun magic system. Lots of sidequests. NPCs are stiff and there's not much exciting loot."

Rock Band 2 (X360)

"Lots of great songs available for download, in addition to the good disc set. Fingering feels natural (i play real guitar) and the guitar is better designed than Guitar Hero's. All instruments are fun. The campaign is fun, but you can't avoid songs."

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (X360)

"This is the best war FPS game I've played. The campaign is good, and the multiplayer is even better.... with RPG-like character progression, unlocking weapons and perks (like skills). One of the best games on the 360 and XBL."

Peggle (X360)

"One of the best arcade games on Xbox Live. It's like a cross between billiards and pinball. Lots of dynamics and replayability. And it's a very cheerful game... a friend joked "this game makes me feel good about myself". "

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (X360)

"I'm not usually into driving games, but this one goes beyond racing to include an open world and a lot of angry cops. The graphics, physics, and customization are all impressive. "

Star Wars: Battlefront (PC)

"One of my favorite all-time games. Fast-paced action in well-designed Star Wars levels with lots of dynamics. Three factions with 5 classes each. Many classes are unique: jet troopers, droidekas, battle droids, etc. Lasts months, even years."

Battle for Middle Earth 2 (PC)

"One of my favorite games of all time, and perhaps the most played. It's almost as fun to watch as to play. It includes two campaigns, but the best part is co-op in skirmishes and War of the Ring mode (like RISK with actual battles). Very dynamic."

Neverwinter Nights (PC)

"Another of my favorite games of all time. There were a lot of dynamics, so there was incentive to replay it. I would love to see a lot of the class design features be mimicked by other games."

Screen Names: Oske (half-orc barbarian), Fesk (half-elf thief), Dumaine (human sorcerer) and others
Star Wars Galaxies (PC)

"This might be my favorite MMO experience. It had very RP-oriented gameplay. The world's major conflict (Rebels vs Empire) was seen and felt, and I felt like a part of it. It had NPCs acting apart from player actions (like NPC stormtroopers fighting N"

Screen Names: Dubaash (wookiee creature-handler/ranger), Fesk (zabrak rifleman)
Assassin's Creed (X360)

"The best swordplay of any game I've played. A beautifully rendered world and tons of wandering NPCs. Climbing and acrobatics are fun and easy. Good story. But gameplay quickly gets repetitive."

Halo 3 (X360)

"The first Halo is still the best in some ways, like having a more seamless gameplay and more open environments. But this one has a lot of replayability, too. I can't say I enjoy fragfests with strangers, but the co-op is a lot of fun."

Screen Names: hallower1980 (XBL tag)
World of Warcraft (PC-MAC)

"I liked that it was fast-paced and free-roaming. The art style was impressive without bogging down my computer. There are a number of good qualities, but, like others, it sticks to stale MMO designs."

Screen Names: Oske, Fesk, and others
Everquest II (PC)

"I loved the cinematic feel of gameplay (I played in letterbox). If you're computer can run it on High graphics, it's a very different game than on Low or Medium."

Screen Names: Oske, Fesk, and many others
City of Heroes (PC)

"A breath of fresh air in MMOs. I really liked the free movement, the fast action, the initial customization, the skill augmentations and other skill choices, and the non-combat NPC animations. I think I played for about 3 months, then another month w"

Screen Names: Fesk, Oske, Revenot (magic brawler), Volcus (magic fire-blaster), and many others
Age of Empires III (PC)

"A great RTS. Not my favorite RTS, but definitely one of the best."

Everquest (PC)

"My first MMO, starting a few months before Luclin's release. What I admire most about it, looking back, was the complete freedom to wander wherever I pleased and that there wasn't always segregation between high-level content and low-level content. I"

Server: Drinal

Screen Names: Hallower (dwarf cleric -- level 46), Fesk (don't remember), Oske (don't remember)
Guitar Hero: World Tour (X360)

"I own both this and Rock Band 2, and the latter is much better. World Tour doesn't have nearly as many songs for download. Fingering is often unnatural, obviously designed just to be difficult. And the recording studio is needlessly complicated."

Spore (PC-MAC)

"I can't wait! This is #1 on my must-have list."

Sacred (PC)

"The first Diablo-clone I played. It just didn't grab me like Diablo 2, but it wasn't a bad game."

Titan Quest (PC)

"It's hard to describe, but somehow this game fell short of Diablo 2's gameplay for me. Part of it was the ragdoll deaths that didn't seem to be in response to my attacks. The skills didn't grab me as much as D2's either."

Lord of the Rings Online (PC)

"I played it a bit in beta. The art is impressive. The short in-camera custcenes were cool. But it's mostly a repeat of stale designs."

Asheron's Call 2 (PC)
Screen Names: some lizard guy with a magical drum
Shadowbane (PC-MAC)

"I loved the runestone system. I still like the idea of RP-based PvP, though my experience was that this game's RvR fell into more of a Counterstrike mentality (kills were not really roleplay-based)."

Screen Names: Oske, Fesk (pale-skinned-race warlock)
Dungeon Siege II (PC)

"Hokey storyline and it didn't live up to Diablo 2. Not a terrible game though."

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (PC)

"I followed this game's development closely for 2-3 years and played in the beta. Sigil had talked about a lot of really great ideas before release, but it ended up feeling like the same ol' same old."

Auto Assault (PC)

"I played it in beta. It wasn't a bad game, I didn't end up buying it after release."

Horizons ()

"My least favorite MMO. I quit pretty quickly."

Screen Names: a dragon, a demon, and something else
Command & Conquer (PC)

"Red Alert was the best, but I also liked Generals. I played mostly solo."

LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth 2

"Easily one of my favorite games of all time, and certainly my favorite game right now (even though I've been playing it for months). It has a lot of dynamics, depth, and some great co-op play in the "War of the Ring" mode."
