It's great... especially if you balance your time between racing and free roaming. The races are long and usually have few if any barriers. There's a lot to do and an enormous amount of land to roam. I particularly like chasing down GPS trucks.
It has some annoyances, but not big ones. I'm also surprised that I haven't encountered any severe weather (other than thunderstorms) in my first 20 hours or so hours of play. You have to unlock areas and vehicles as you play, so I'm guessing the tornadoes and such are in later areas. I say "later", but there's plenty of reason to go return to old areas as you unlock new ones.
I haven't played much multiplayer yet. And I haven't tried to create my own race yet.
Overall, it feels like a game I'll be able to continue enjoying for months.
